Quoted by the London Evening Standard, Darren Randolph has joked that West Ham United will not be happy with Dimitri Payet starring at Euro 2016.

Payet has been one of the players of the tournament so far with a series of impressive performances in the group stages.

He was in fine form again on Sunday as the hosts beat Randolph’s Republic of Ireland in the last 16 stage of the competition.

His performances have certainly caught the eye, with the likes of Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane openly admitting their admiration for him.

And Randolph has joked that perhaps West Ham will not be too pleased with the manner in which he has garnered so much attention.

“For me, Dimitri is different class. He’s a special player. That’s why he’s sought after around the world,” the London Evening Standard quotes him saying.

“It’s massive for [West Ham] to keep him. I really hope he stays — but maybe the manager and the owners aren’t so happy as some to see him doing so well in France!”

It will certainly be interesting to see if there are any significant bids from the big European sides for Payet this summer.

There is no denying he has been among the stars of Euro 2016 as he has firmly established himself as France’s key man.

Coupled with his fine first season in the Premier League last season, too, it would not be surprising to see clubs testing West Ham’s resolve sooner rather than later.
