Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose is quoted as saying by the club’s official website that Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is very underrated.

Rose and Sigurdsson played together at Tottenham before the latter was sold to Premier League rivals Swansea in the summer of 2014.

The two players are set to face each other in a few hours’ time in France when England take on Iceland.

While Rose is likely to start for England in the last-16 tie of 2016 European Championship at the Allianz Riviera in Nice, Sigurdsson would be a key player in Iceland’s midfield.

“Iceland like to sit in but they have some very dangerous players in attack, especially Gylfi Sigurdsson,” Tottenham’s official website quotes Rose as saying.

“I’ve had the privilege of playing with him and he’s such a good player – very underrated. He’s one of the best finishers with both feet I’ve ever come across."

Rose has played twice for England at the ongoing Euro 2016 finals in France. The Tottenham left-back has a pass accuracy of 86%, and has won one header and five dribbles.

Sigurdsson has scored one goal and created two chances in three matches for Iceland at the Euro 2016 finals.

The Swansea midfielder has a pass accuracy of 83% and a shot accuracy of 80%, and has won one header, three dribbles and seven tackles.

England will head into this evening’s game against Iceland as favourites.
