According to The Mirror, Manchester United will make a £38m move for German international Julian Draxler if they can't land Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Now, United must turn their attention to other areas of the pitch, and adding attacking reinforcements out wide appears to be a major priority for the Red Devils and new boss Mourinho.
The Mirror claim that Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan is Mourinho's top target after a stunning season last term, where he hit 18 goals and 20 assists for Thomas Tuchel's men.
However, having already lost Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan to Bayern Munich and Manchester City respectively, Dortmund are reluctant to sell Mkhitaryan to United - and now they're having to look for possible alternatives.
The Mirror claim that United have identified Wolfsburg star Julian Draxler as a target if Mkhitaryan doesn't sign, but he could cost a whopping £38m.
Draxler, 22, was highly rated during his time at Schalke, and moved on to Wolfsburg last season as a replacement for Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne - though his eight goals and seven assists were a little underwhelming given the hype surrounding him.
This summer, Draxler has been starring in the Germany side at Euro 2016, and his performances appear to have convinced United that he would be a smart alternative to Mkhitaryan.
It's believed that manager Mourinho has told Ed Woodward that, if a deal for Mkhitaryan is impossible, then Draxler is a player he would like to bring to Old Trafford - even with the huge fee involved.
