The Blues are expected to be busy this summer, with new manager Ronald Koeman reportedly handed a big transfer fund by shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
He is keen to see the club bounce back from two disappointing seasons in the Premier League as he looks to make them a Champions League club and force in the division.
The Dutchman is targeting several new additions to the current playing squad, and according to the Mirror Schneiderlin is one of the players he could make a move for.
But would he represent an improvement on what the Blues already have? We decided to compare him to current defensive midfielder James McCarthy to find out.
|Team||Won Tackle per Game||Interception Won per Game||Poss Won Mid 3rd per Game||Ball Recoveries per Game||Accurate Pass per Game||Passing Accuracy||Touches per Game||Unsuccessful Touches per Game||Appearances|
|Morgan Schneiderlin||Man Utd||1.72||2.52||3.55||5.55||45||90%||61.45||0.66||29|
And as it transpires he would, as he came out on top in seven of the eight areas we looked at.
Schneiderlin won more interceptions than the Irish midfielder managed while he also came out on top when it came to winning possession in the midfield third and ball recoveries.
Schneiderlin's passing was also better as he played more accurate passes per game and enjoyed a better overall passing accuracy. He also registered more touches and fewer unsuccessful touches than McCarthy managed last season.
The only area where the Irishman came out on top was tackles won per game where he enjoyed a significant success over the Manchester United midfielder.
Nonetheless, an impressive win for Schneiderlin who Everton fans will be keen to see their club sign based on this evidence.
