Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger
Arsenal's bid to sign Jamie Vardy was stopped dead in it's tracks last week as Leicester City announced via their officia website the England striker would be renewing his contract at the club.
While disappointing to Arsenal, it simply means they should move onto the next potential target, and perhaps even snap up a player who is better than Vardy in both the short and long term.
Signing an already established mega star like Gonzalo Higuain or Karim Benzema may be overly expensive and too difficult - so looking for an option a little bit cheaper and in the Vardy price bracket, there may not be many better choices right now than Vincent Janssen.
Vincent Janssen scores the first goal for Netherlands
Janssen struck 27 league goals last season for AZ Alkmaar on his way to finishing as the Eredivsie top scorer.
He followed this up by displacing Robin van Persie in the Dutch national squad and scoring against England in March, and is available from AZ at the right price this summer.
Netherland's Vincent Janssen celebrates.
Arsenal's rivals Tottenham are currently heading the chase, but have had their offers rejected.
While prolific Eredivisie scorers have been hit and miss in the Premier League, Janssen is just 22-years-old and is worth a shot, available at only £16.25 million.
He is built like he would cope in England physically, and is technically very good on the ball. Janssen could be the next Dutch superstar in waiting, and rather than let him move to rivals Spurs, Arsenal should now push to sign him themselves and fix their own needs.
