Moussa Dembele suffers further setback in his bid to return from an ankle injury.
According to reports from DH, Moussa Dembele has suffered a blow in his attempt to return to full fitness from an ankle injury and is now a huge doubt for Belgium’s knockout round clash against Hungary on Sunday.
Dembele was forced off during the 57th minute of Belgium’s second group game at the European Championships against the Republic of Ireland last Saturday and it was later revealed that the midfielder had suffered a minor ankle injury.
As a result, Dembele sat out Belgium’s final group encounter against Sweden on Wednesday night and it was widely believed that the Tottenham Hotspur star would be fit in time to feature in the crucial knockout round fixture against Hungary on Monday.
In a huge blow though, Belgian outlet DH have gone on to claim that Dembele remains a doubt for the encounter with the Hungarians as well after failing to make the anticipated recovery.
It has been claimed that Dembele trained for an extra 20 minutes after the rest of the group on Friday in order to see if his ankle could handle the exertion but the midfielder was forced to stop after feeling pain within 15 minutes.
