Kalvin Phillips signed a new contract at Leeds United yesterday.
Members of Leeds United’s first-team squad have expressed their delight that Kalvin Phillips has penned a new contract at Elland Road.
Phillips signed a three-year contract with Leeds yesterday, after some doubts emerged over his future at the Yorkshire club.
The youngster is highly regarded at Leeds, but there were fears that he could have been set to depart in the near future.
However, Phillips’ commitment to Leeds was highlighted yesterday, and his teammates seem to be delighted that the midfielder will be sticking around.
Phillips emerged as a bright prospect at Leeds during the 2014/15 campaign, when he impressed with his performances towards the back end of the season.
The 20-year-old was expected to play a key role last term, but he perhaps didn’t make the impact predicted.
Phillips only played 10 times in all competitions, and he has only made two appearances for Leeds’ senior side in 2016.
It remains to be seen what sort of role Garry Monk sees for Phillips, but the fact the youngster has been handed a new deal suggests that Leeds’ new manager rates him highly.
