Jonjoe Kenny has told Everton’s official site that he is aiming to win a place in the first-team next season.
The Toffees' fringe players have been offered hope of breaking into the senior squad, following the appointment of Ronald Koeman as manager.
Koeman has already expressed a desire to give Everton’s youngsters a chance during his time in charge, as he looks to harness the potential in their current academy system.
And Kenny is hoping that he is one of the Toffees prospects that benefits from Koeman being placed in charge.
“It is a clean slate for everyone,” Kenny said. “We have to go in and impress the new manager and try to get into the first-team squad.”
Kenny was handed his first team debut for Everton in the final day of the season against Norwich City.
The defender played his part in helping Everton win 3-0 against Norwich City, and he impressed on his first showing for the side.
The 19-year-old says that his first appearance was an amazing experience, and it seems to have left him hungry for more.
“Making my debut was a dream come true,” the youngster said. “I have been at Everton for just under 10 years and that was what I have been striving towards since I arrived.
“To make my debut in front of all the fans at Goodison – I couldn’t have asked for more.”
Kenny is one of a number of bright youngsters currently breaking through at Everton, with Koeman seemingly having a wealth of talent to chose from over the coming years.
