Everton fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking the club with a move for Victor Valdes in the summer transfer window.

Valdes is on the books of Manchester United at the moment, but the Spanish goalkeeper’s current contract with the Premier League giants runs out at the end of the month.

This means that the former Barcelona star will officially become a free agent next month, and Everton have been linked with the 34-year-old.

The British newspaper has also claimed that Manchester City, who will be managed by former Barcelona head coach Pep Guardiola next season, are interested in the 2012 European Championship winner.

Everton have a new manager in Ronald Koeman, who recently left his role at Premier League rivals Southampton.
