Everton have been offered the chance to sign former Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to the Daily Mail.

The Blues are expected to be busy in this summer transfer window, with Farhad Moshiri keen to make an impression. The goalkeeper department is one that needs serious attention as Everton are currently short of options in that area.

Long serving number one Tim Howard departed the club at the end of the season as he made a return to the MLS, while there are doubts whether Joel Robles is a suitable long-term candidate.

A new arrival is likely at some point and according to the Daily Mail they have already been offered the chance to sign Valdes.

The Spaniard is a free agent this summer following his release by Manchester United where he managed just two Premier League appearances since joining in January 2015.

Koeman will be more than aware of what he can offer, having been assistant manager at Barcelona while Valdes was making rapid progress through the youth ranks at the Nou Camp.

He could represent a smart purchase for the Blues, adding some much needed experience as well as filling what is currently a problem area.

On a free transfer too, it would also mean they can use their funds elsewhere rather than being forced to spend big on a new number one this summer.
