Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers strikers Dwight Gayle and Conor Washington played for Peterborough United earlier in their careers.
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has suggested that Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle is currently better than Queens Park Rangers’ Conor Washington.
Gayley technically at moment, Conor quicker. Gayley more clinical but Conor still has time to catch up. Love em both https://t.co/gzcJgriohs— Darragh MacAnthony (@DMAC102) June 22, 2016
Gayle and Washington have been two of Peterborough’s success stories in recent times, with the pair both leaving the ABAX Stadium to move on to bigger and better things.
Peterborough raised a combined total of over £7 million for the duo, but neither have been hugely productive buys for their current clubs.
Gayle has struggled to earn a starting place at Palace, while Washington has failed to score in his first 15 appearances for QPR.
MacAnthony has become a renowned spotter of talent in the Football League - with Peterborough producing some excellent striking talent in recent times.
As well as Gayle and Washington, The Posh have also signed the likes of Britt Assombalonga, Craig Mackail-Smith and Aaron McLean, who all went on to make impacts at higher levels.
During their time with Posh, Gayle netted 13 goals in 29 appearances, while Washington hit 33 strikes in 94 games.
