The Dutch legend believes his former boss is one of the best at knowing and influencing his players and has made the right move in joining Everton.
Netherlands legend Patrick Kluivert has told Everton's official website that new manager Ronaldo Koeman has made a great move in joining the club, and outlined the key quality that sets his former boss apart.
Koeman became Roberto Martinez's replacement at Goodison Park when he chose to leave Southampton after two impressive years to take the reigns on Merseyside.
The former Netherlands star led the Saints to seventh and sixth in the Premier League table in his two years at St. Mary's, with last season seeing their highest league finish in 31 years.
Toffees fans will be hoping that he can translate that success to Everton as the former European challengers suffered a second successive bottom-half finish under Martinez in another disappointing campaign last term.
Kluivert, who won the Dutch league with PSV Eindhoven under Koeman and also knows the coach from when the former defender was assistant manager at Barcelona and for the Netherlands, believes that his former mentor has one big quality which sets him out from the rest.
The former striker told Everton's website: "He has made a very good move from Southampton to Everton. He did a great job at Southampton. But Everton is a great club to coach.
"For a coach, it is very important how you transmit that to your players. Ronald is one of the best at that. His strengths are that he knows his players really well.
"If you know your players well, then you can influence them. That is the most important thing. He is a very friendly person. He knows what he wants and knows how, in his head, to achieve the things he wants. Ronald is a great coach and great trainer."
Everton will be hoping that this hands-on approach yields instant reward next season as they look to end their recent malaise and return to competing for European qualification.
