Leeds United are closing in on the impressive forward.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported earlier this week that the 25-year-old had agreed a deal to sign for the Whites and become Garry Monks’ first signing since taking charge at Elland Road this summer.
However, speaking to Aftonbladet, Borstam has urged patience, suggesting it was premature to claim a deal was already done but confirming it is close.
“I hope the deal will be completed soon,” he said. “It’s between buyers and sellers. We have an ambition and agenda that we should try to complete everything at any time.”
When asked specifically when the player may officially belong to Leeds, Borstam added, “As quickly as possible. I dare not say what hour or what day, but we hope (it) to be at any time.”
Antonsson has scored 13 goals in 18 appearances for Kalmar this season and he has a total of 25 in 47 games for the club.
He has the potential to develop an effective partnership with current Leeds forward Chris Wood next season. However it seems Whites fans may have to bide their time before finally celebrating the deal, with work still to be done behind the scenes.
