Leicester City confirmed on Thursday, via the club’s official website, that the striker had agreed to sign a new four year deal at the club.

It brings about an end to speculation about Vardy’s future after Arsenal had activated a £20million release clause in his contract.

He has opted to stay with the champions and continue with them as they head into the Champions League next season.

It is a huge boost for the Premier League champions, who will now be hoping that the likes of Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante can follow suit and agree new deals too.

Firm Leicester City fan Lineker was naturally delighted by the news and shared his reaction on Twitter.

It now remains to be seen if those other Leicester City stars will agree to new deals after Vardy’s decision.

As with the striker, big clubs are sure to be keen on their signatures this summer after their performances last season.

However, Vardy agreeing a new deal hints that the players know big things are happening at the Kingpower and perhaps the likes of Kante and Mahrez will follow his example.
