Following the appointment of Ronald Koeman as their new manager, Everton have continued to look to the future by awarding talented youngster Kieran Dowell a new three-year deal at the club.
Dowell has been highly regarded by Toffees academy manager David Unsworth and his staff for some time for his goalscoring exploits from attacking midfield for the club's youth sides.
Ex-first team manager Roberto Martinez tipped the 18-year-old to make the step up to senior level sooner rather than later earlier in 2016, and he was indeed handed his league debut at the end of April.
There are high hopes within the club hierarchy that Dowell will go on to become the latest in a line of stars to make the step up from youth level to become a key senior player for the club.
Players such as Ross Barkley and John Stones have made the grade after either coming through the academy or being bought as youngsters, as Dowell appears to have a similar level of quality at such a young age.
Having made his league debut already and now been rewarded with an extended new deal, Dowell is surely well-placed to play a bigger role in the first-team set-up under new manager Ronald Koeman next season.
Everton fans certainly hope so, as they took to Twitter to call for more involvement from Dowell next season after the confirmation of his contract extension.
