Speaking to the club’s official website, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed the squad’s first class attitude upon their return to training.

Rogers was confirmed as the new Celtic manager last month after Ronny Deila departed at the end of last season.

He has had to wait until this week to get to work with the squad he has inherited though, with the majority returning from pre-season on Monday.

They will be keen to impress the former Liverpool manager as quickly as possible, with big changes expected at the club this summer in terms of personnel.

First though he must assess what he already has available, and Rodgers is clearly impressed, saying their attitude has already been first class.

“We had a meeting with the players and then they have been on the field and I’ve got to say they have been brilliant,” he told celticfc.net.

“Their attitude has been first-class. They have shown real desire to want to improve and get fit and I’ve been really pleased with the first couple of days.”

It will certainly be interesting to see what work that Rodgers undertakes in the summer transfer window.

The club seems keen to ditch their policy of spending small in recent years as they seek to make a return to the Champions League group stages at least.

To do so will require funds to improve what many believe is a squad lacking quality and what changes Rodgers aims to make remains to be seen.
