Besiktas president Fikret Orman has admitted interest in Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina but conceded that he may be out of their price range, in quotes published by the Mirror.

Ospina is believed to be frustrated over his lack of game time at the Emirates and could well be allowed to leave his asking price – reported by the Mirror to be £3 million – is met.

“I do want Ospina and we are going to get a foreign keeper… (but) Arsenal want a lot for him so we may have to look for alternatives,” said Orman.

The Colombian stopper had a fairly successful debut season after his arrival from Nice in July 2014 but endured a miserable campaign last term, appearing just 13 times in all competitions.

Petr Cech’s arrival last summer effectively denied Ospina any chance of winning a starting spot and it remains to be seen whether he will be happy to spend another year in the shadow of the Czech stalwart.

Arsenal’s goalkeeping situation becomes further complicated by the returning Wojciech Szczesny, who arrives off the back of a successful stint in Serie A with Roma.

The Polish international is also unlikely to accept a season on the bench and Arsene Wenger will need to act fast if he is to find a solution.
