Tottenham are keen to land striker Antonio Sanabria, according to the player's agent.
Antonio Sanabria at Barcelona
Antonio Sanabria's agent Raul Verdu has told Tutto Mercato Web that there has been contact with Tottenham about a deal to sign the striker from Roma.
Tottenham are in the market for at least one new striker this summer, as leading goalscorer Harry Kane desperately needs some support in the final third.
A number of names have been linked with the club, but a new name was added to the frame this week, with a deal for Roma's Antonio Sanabria strongly rumoured.
The Paraguayan, 20, had been on the books at Barcelona before a January 2014 move to Roma, but spent last season on loan at La Liga side Sporting Gijon, where he thrived.
With 11 goals to his name, Sanabria showed just why he is so highly rated - and his performances appear to have triggered major interest in his signature.
Gazzetta Dello Sport reported on Wednesday that Spurs have struck an £11.5m deal with Roma to sign Sanabria, with manager Mauricio Pochettino keen to develop the promising youngster behind star man Kane next season and beyond.
Now, Sanabria's agent Raul Verdu has been asked about the situation, and admitted to Tutto Mercato Web that he has had contact from Tottenham about a deal, but must wait to talk to Roma before knowing where Sanabria's future lies.
"The rumors about Tottenham? I speak in general, there was some contact, but we will have to evaluate with Roma," said Verdu. "Right now the lad belongs to the Giallorossi, and I’ll speak with [sporting director Walter] Sabatini to decide how to move. At the moment there’s nothing concrete on Sanabria’s future, we’ll see if there’s news next week," he added.
