Swansea City are said to have made a bid for the Dutch defender.
According to a report from Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Swansea City want to sign Ajax defender Mike van der Hoorn this summer and have made their first move in their attempts to secure his signature.
The 23-year-old centre-back has featured 48 times for the Eredivisie side to date, scoring four goals and providing one assist in the process, but with only 15 league appearances last season it would be no surprise to see him move on.
The latest report claims Swansea have made a £1.9million bid for the player that could also see add-ons bring the price up over time, and it goes on to suggest the player wants to leave his current club this summer for pastures new, although it remains to be seen if he is keen on a switch to the Premier League.
Capped 13 times for the Netherlands’ under-21 side, van der Hoorn may see his next move as key to helping him make the step up to full international honours in due course.
Swansea impressed under manager Francesco Guidolin last season and they will be hoping that with the right additions they could push for a European qualifying spot as early as next season.
