Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan
According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United have submitted a new bid for Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan, believed to be worth a huge £28m.
Having landed Villarreal defender Eric Bailly in a big-money deal earlier this month, United boss Jose Mourinho appears to be turning his attention to adding more attacking options.
The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that the new United manager is desperate to land Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan and wants him signed before pre-season starts on July 7th, but having had a £19m bid rejected for a player Dortmund value at almost £31, United were fearing a deal would prove difficult to complete.
Now though, The Mirror report that United have submitted a new and vastly improved £28m bid for top target Mkhitaryan, dwarfing their initial offer of £19m.
The Armenian international, 27, has been a star for Dortmund ever since his 2013 move from Shakhtar Donetsk, and his numbers from last season were simply outstanding.
With 18 goals and 20 assists in all competitions according to WhoScored, Mkhitaryan became part of a dangerous attacking trio alongside Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - unsurprisingly attracting interest from United.
United hope that their £28m plus add-ons offer is enough to tempt Dortmund into a sale, given that the Bundesliga giants have already lost two key players this summer, with Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan joining Bayern Munich and Manchester City respectively.
The offer, even including the add-ons, falls just short of Dortmund's £31m valuation, but United have certainly given them something to consider with this new and improved bid.
