Wednesday are set to host Villa at Hillsborough on the opening weekend of the Football League.
The tie has already been selected for live coverage by Sky Sports, and it looks set to be a thriller.
For Bannan the match should have added meaning, as he came through Villa’s youth system.
The Scotland international was with the Claret and Blues for nine years, before leaving in 2013.
Bannan looks likely to start for Wednesday in the fixture, given the importance of his role in Carlos Carvalhal’s side, and the midfielder is clearly excited about the prospect of taking on his former employers.

Villa legend Stylian Petrov was quick to respond to Bannan on social media, to stoke up the excitement for the contest even more.
Wednesday only lost two matches at Hillsborough last season, meaning Villa have been handed a very tough start to life outside the Premier League.
