Wales fans have lauded Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies, after he helped them top the group and qualify for the knockout stages at Euro 2016.

Wales took on Russia last night, knowing that they needed to avoid defeat to have a chance of making it into the next round.

What was expected to be a nervy evening, turned out to be an absolute procession and Chris Coleman’s side ended up finishing ahead of England to qualify for the last 16 in style.

Wales ran out 3-0 winners over the Russians, with Aaron Ramsey, Neil Taylor and Gareth Bale all getting on the scoresheet.

The goalscorers took the headlines, but Davies’ solid performance in defence did not go unnoticed.

Davies plays as the left-sided central defender in Wales’ three man defence, and he is yet to miss a minute of action at the tournament.

The Tottenham man has looked assured and combative in every appearance he has made so far, and his displays have earned widespread credit. Here is the best reaction to the youngster’s latest performance on social media site Twitter.

Wales’ opponents in the next round are not yet known, but they are likely to come up against Albania, Czech Republic or Northern Ireland.
