Giggs has been tipped to takeover at Forest, with his Manchester United future in doubt.
The 42-year-old became odds on favourite to takeover at Forest earlier in the week, and the Daily Mirror have suggested that he is on the verge of being announced as the Midland club’s next boss.
Although other reports have now stated that Giggs is still unlikely to be made Forest boss, the rumours that he could become the Reds’ next manager will not go away.
However, Wilkins feels that both Giggs and Forest would be taking a massive gamble, if he did move to the City Ground.
“It had to happen sooner or later,” Wilkins said. “The owners I’m not sure, and I’m not sure what relationship Ryan would have with them. I sincerely hope it’s a good one.
“I believe where you’ve come from is where you should manage. He’s come from the Premier League and that’s all he knows. He doesn’t know anywhere else.”
Giggs is reportedly frustrated at Manchester United, after being overlooked in favour of Jose Mourinho, following the departure of Louis van Gaal.
Giggs will also no longer continue in his assistant manager’s role at United, but he has been given the opportunity to take any other job of his pleasing.
Giggs is yet to take up this offer sparking rumours that he could leave Old Trafford in the near future.
