Leeds United announced on Monday they have appointed a new chief executive, the club confirmed via it's official website.
Ben Mansford joined from newly promoted Barnsley, who will take on the Whites home and away next season.
Leeds had been without a chief executive since Adam Pearson resigned last Autumn, and Mansford's arrival gives them greater structure off the field, hopefully leading to more success on it.
Leeds owner Massimo Cellino now has less responsibility to take on at the club
Mansford had spent three years at Barnsley, and local MP Michale Dugher (Barnsley East) even took to Twitter to express his sadness at the CEO's departure.
Sorry to see Ben Mansford leave. Getting things right off the pitch is vital to success on it. Ben did a great job. https://t.co/zF6cgVD1AY— Michael Dugher MP (@MichaelDugher) June 20, 2016
Barnsley fans had not been given any warning about Mansford's departure, and it seemed to catch them by surprise, which is understandable given the recent promotion success they have enjoyed.
Fans were quick to express their views on Twitter about Mansford moving on, offering a range of views, including worry whether the club will be able to hang on to their star players...
Nightmare this. Not sorry Mansford has gone but he will be trying to poach Fletcher and Winnall now #bfc— Matt Pepper (@Onemattpepper) June 20, 2016
Ben Mansford is likely to learn a hard lesson at Leeds. Loyalty at Barnsley was to be Prized. #barnsleyisbrill— Derek Carpenter (@barnsleytown) June 20, 2016
Done a great job has Ben Mansford, disappointed to see him leave. Linton Brown stepping up, for now. Never quiet down at Oakwell..— Nick Wood (@S12_Red) June 20, 2016
I don’t see the loss of Ben Mansford as any loss, he was mocked and ridiculed as a failure, up to a few months ago.— J (@Nar_then) June 20, 2016
