The Hammers have made no secret of their desire to sign a new striker this summer, and thus far a number of different players have been linked with a move to the club.
A report by Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio over a fortnight ago claimed West Ham were in talks to sign Calleri, but since then not much has come to light regarding the talented Argentine.
Calleri’s current situation is complicated, as he moved on from Boca Juniors to sign for Brazilain club Sao Paolo though via an investment group involving Uruguayan club Deportivo Maldonado.
What can’t be in question, though, is his raw ability upfront and goal scoring capabilities, firing in 16 goals for Boca before netting an impressive 12 times in 24 appearances in Brazil.
It seems only a matter of time before the 22-year-old makes the move from South America to Europe, and West Ham are seemingly leading the case as Slaven Bilic eyes attacking reinforcements.
The report claims the parties invovled are seeking the best solution to bring him to the Premier League, and despite the situation going quiet over the past fortnight, talks are said to be progressing.
