Feghouli explains his decision to join West Ham United.
West Ham United will be playing their football at the Olympic Stadium during the upcoming campaign and the club hierarchy now seem to be intent on turning the Hammers into a powerhouse in Europe within the next few years.
As a result of their increased level of ambition, West Ham have allegedly been targeting high profile names and the summer transfer window is surely going to be a very exciting time for the club faithful.
To initially whet the appetite of the fans, West Ham have moved quickly to secure the services of Sofiane Feghouli from Valencia on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old will be joining the Hammers upon the expiration of his contract with Valencia on June 30 and recruiting such a quality player for nothing can be seen as a massive coup for the ambitious Premier League club.
Now Feghouli has gone on to explain that he has chosen West Ham following a chat with manager Slaven Bilic and added that the prospect of playing in the Olympic Stadium also played a big part in his decision making process.
He told L’Equipe, “I had many offers in different top European leagues, and in some exotic countries, but the chance to sign for West Ham emerged. One must play in the Premier League in his career. In terms of experience, it cannot be questioned as it’s the most competitive league.
“I also had a chat with the coach Slaven Bilic. They were really interested, and we found an agreement quickly. The club has a super project and a new stadium with 60,000 seating capacity. There is also the chance to play in the Europa League.”
