Liverpool have been left baffled by reports linking striker Danny Ings to Glasgow Rangers, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The striker’s season was ruined by a cruciate ligament injury last season after he had made a strong start to his Anfield career following a move from Burnley.

Reports this week suggested that Ings could be making the move to Scotland this summer, with HITC Sport revealing the odds had been cut on him heading to Ibrox.

Those reports took those at Anfield by surprise; with the Reds reportedly left baffled by suggestions that their striker could be making either a loan move or a permanent switch to Glasgow.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the striker is highly regarded by Jurgen Klopp, who believes that the forward will have a key role to play in the 2016/17 campaign.

Indeed, as far as they are concerned he will be competing with Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi for the role as Liverpool’s first choice striker.

The feeling from Klopp is that his energy will make him a good fit for the brand of high intensity football that he wants his side to play and an exit will not be happening.
