According to The Glasgow Evening Times, Celtic signing Joe Gomez or Andre Wisdom from Liverpool in the summer transfer window is dependent on them qualifying for the group stage of the Champions League.
Celtic won the Scottish Premiership last season and could feature in the group stage of the 2016-17 Champions League campaign.
The Bhoys will enter the prestigious European competition at the second qualifying round stage.
It has been suggested in The Glasgow Evening Times that for Celtic to sign Gomez or Wisdow this summer, they would have to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League.
“While Rodgers’ first remit will be to bring in players to help Celtic make it into the Champions League group stages, it remains to be seen if he can add Joe Gomez or Andre Wisdom,” states the report in The Glasgow Evening Times.
“A loan deal might be the most likely option – but that may well be dependent on Celtic making it into the group stages.”
According to a report in The Sun at the weekend, Celtic are interested in signing Gomez and Wisdom from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
It was reported by the British tabloid that the Scottish Premiership giants made an approach for the two defenders.
However, according to the report, Liverpool snubbed Celtic’s approach, as the Bhoys want Wisdom and Gomez on loan deals.
