Apostolos Vellios wants to return to England but he had hoped to feature in the Premier League, according to The Nottingham Post.
According to the report, a fee has been agreed between Forest and Vellios’s club Iraklis regarding the transfer of the striker.
“Vellios is said to be keen on a return to England, having enjoyed a three year spell with Everton,” adds the report in The Nottingham Post.
“But the 6ft 4in front man had hoped to secure a move back to the top flight, having scored 13 goals for the Greek Super League club last season.”
Vellios’s current contract with Greek club Iraklis is until June 2017, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The striker, who has played three times for the Greece national team, scored 13 goals for Iraklis during the 2015-16 campaign.
The 24-year-old started his professional club football career at Iraklis and was on the books of Everton from 2011 until 2014.
The Greece international striker failed to make an impact for the Merseyside outfit during his spell at Goodison Park.
Forest, who failed to finish in the top 10 of the Championship last season, are without a manager at the moment.
