Sheffield United defender Kieron Freeman has emerged as a target for Bolton Wanderers and Burton Albion, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Freeman looks set to leave Bramall Lane this summer after being placed on the transfer list by new Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder.

The right-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Portsmouth, helping the Fratton Park club reach the League Two play-off semi-finals.

Freeman joined Sheffield United in January 2015 on a free transfer from Derby County to be reunited with Nigel Clough who he played under at the Rams.

The attacking full-back also enjoyed a successful loan spell at Sheffield United at the back end of the 2013/14 season under Clough.

Clough is a big fan of Freeman and is now considering a move to bring him to Championship new boys Burton Albion as they prepare for their first season in England's second tier.

Bradford City manager Phil Parkinson

Bolton are also weighing up a move for Freeman with new Wanderers boss Phil Parkinson looking to bolster his defensive options as he hopes to build a side capable of winning promotion back to the Championship.
