Celtic return to action earlier than most next season.
Recently appointed Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has overseen his first training session, with images later posted on the club’s official Twitter account.
The former Liverpool and Swansea City boss took charge of the Bhoys after Ronny Deila’s departure and his first task is to ensure the Scottish champions reach the group stages of next season’s Champions League.
He now knows Celtic’s first opponents in the qualifying stages will be one from two, with the Bhoys drawn against either Estonian side Flora Tallinn or Lincoln from Gibraltar.
Rodgers will not know which of the two sides he will face until early next month, but you can rest assured he will quickly set about doing his research on both clubs.
Celtic’s players had little time to enjoy their summer break and are now back in a bid to impress Rodgers as quickly as possible.
There are likely to be some new additions to Celtic’s first-team squad during the transfer window but there is also plenty of quality already at Rodgers’ disposal, and it is up to him to figure out his best possible starting XI before the competitive action begins in earnest.
