Leeds United have been linked with the Swedish forward.

According to a recent report from Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, Leeds United are closing in on a £1.3million move for Kalmar striker Marcus Antonsson.

When you consider the 25-year-old has scored 13 goals in 18 matches for his club this season, and has 25 in 47 appearances in total for them, Leeds fans would be forgiven for getting excited. And now TV4 journalist Olof Lundh has been speaking to West Yorkshire Sport about what Whites fans can expect if he does arrive at Elland Road this summer.

Swansea manager Garry Monk

“He is a quick forward who works hard and he is also a very good goal-scorer,” Lundh said. “Considering he is not playing for a top team he has had really good success.

“He has been very open that he wants to take the next step in his career. Kalmar need the money and he is pretty much their only valuable asset.

“I think he would be the perfect partner for Chris Wood; if you go back to the glory years with Rod Wallace and Lee Chapman I would say it was pretty much the same.”

That is a bold statement but it is also an exciting one and if new Leeds manager Garry Monk can have a prolific strike partnership firing on all cylinders next season it will go a long way to helping him go on the promotion surge he will be desperate for.

Only time will tell if Leeds seal a deal for Antonsson, but Lundh paints a picture of a striker who could slot in well at a club desperate for a few new heroes.
