Aberdeen's Pittodrie Stadium
Gor Mahia midfielder Khalid Aucho has told Supersport that he is heading to Scotland for a trial - but rather than join up with Rangers, he's heading to Aberdeen.
Aucho, 22, has been one of the star players in Kenyan football of late, even earning some comparisons to Southampton star Victor Wanyama.
Much like former Celtic ace Wanyama, Aucho has now been touted for a move to Scotland too, in what has become one of the most bizarre and much-talked about transfer stories in Scottish football.
Gor Mahia then confirmed to Goal that Aucho was heading to Rangers for a trial period - but that doesn't appear to be the case after a stunning twist of events.
Aucho has been speaking to Supersport in Kenya, and admitted that whilst he's been waiting for communication from Rangers, a rival Scottish club have made their move for the midfielder.
Aberdeen look to have stolen a march on the Gers, with Aucho claiming that he is now heading to Pittodrie to undergo a trial period with the Dons - and he can't wait to try and show manager Derek McInnes what he can do.
"I just read so much being said about Rangers but the truth of the matter is that I have been invited by Aberdeen and not Rangers," said Aucho. "I have applied for the visa and just waiting to get it before I travel to Scotland for my trials. As a player such opportunities are very important and I am happy my club has given me there blessings," he added.
Do you think Rangers have missed the boat on Aucho?
