Watford's Costel Pantilimon
According to The Mirror, Aston Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo is keen to bring Watford goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon to Villa Park this summer.
Villa have suffered relegation to the Championship and need to rebuild in order to make an instant push for promotion back to the Premier League.
New manager Di Matteo will lead a full-scale overhaul of the squad, and one position of concern is goalkeeper, where Villa have had some real problems.
Neither Brad Guzan or Mark Bunn impressed last season, and many fans have called for a new shot stopper to be signed up for the new season - but they may not be too happy with Di Matteo's alleged preference.
The Mirror report that Di Matteo is keen on Watford's Costel Pantilimon, who only joined the Hornets from Premier League rivals Sunderland in January.
The giant goalkeeper is currently out in France with Romania at Euro 2016, but his campaign is over after Romania were knocked out of group A in last place.
Attention will now turn to Pantilimon's future, with the 29-year-old unlikely to play much first-team football for Watford behind first-choice stopper Heurelho Gomes.
After reports of Villa's interest broke, fans took to Twitter to react - and it's fair to say that there's something of a divide amongst Villa supporters.
Some believe that Pantilimon, with over 50 Premier League appearances to his name, would be a good acquisition for a Championship club, offering a giant presence between the sticks.
However, others believe that Pantilimon is no better than Guzan or Bunn, and bringing the Romanian to Villa Park would be a sideways move for the club, wasting money without strengthening the position.
Here are some of the reactions from Villa fans after Pantilimon was linked with a summer move to Villa Park...
Pantilimon would be a very decent signing for the championship— Harry Johnson (@avfc_johnson) June 19, 2016
Big fan of Pantilimon!— Chris Gerrard (@ChrisGerrard1) June 20, 2016
Robbie's looking to acquire the services of Pantilimon. Better than what we have but is he good enough to help us win the league? #avfc— Our AVFC (@ouravfc) June 20, 2016
I'd take Pantilimon. Huge presence, commands the box, decent shot stopper. #avfc— Andy (@AndyVilla80) June 20, 2016
Swapping Guzan for Pantilimon is a sideways step to say the least!! Worst keeper in the prem for quite some time. Don't do it. #avfc— Ashley Fowler (@Superfowler07) June 20, 2016
Never been to convinced by Pantilimon, however it's got to the point where anybody other than Guzan would feel like an improvement #avfc— DOMINIC HUNT (@domhunt73) June 20, 2016
Costel Pantilimon for Villa? Think I'd prefer to shore up the defence and stick with Guzan to be honest. #AVFC— Kevin Hughes (@kevinhughes348) June 19, 2016
Think we can do better than Pantilimon as our number one next season #avfc— Indie14 (@Chalkonyaboots) June 19, 2016
