He went to the tournament on the back of a strong season personally, in which he played a major part in Arsenal having the joint third best defensive record in the league.
He came in for praise across the campaign, with former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry going as far as to claim he is the best defender in the division.
Murphy didn’t go that far in his praise, but did say that he believes Koscielny has grown into a leader at the club.
“He’s grown into a leader,” he said during the BBC’s coverage.
“When he first came he didn’t have the confidence he possesses now. He’s a good talker and organiser now.”

Koscielny will now be hoping that he can continue his form and help his country to glory at the European Championships this summer.
They have made a strong start and progressed to the knockout stages, where the competition will truly heat up.
If Didier Deschamps side are to be successful, they will need their defence on it’s best throughout and Koscielny will be key if that is to happen.
