Quoted by the London Evening Sport, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said he does not expect Jamie Vardy to sign for the club.

Arsenal made a move for Vardy before the start of Euro 2016, activating a £20 million release clause in his contract.

The Premier League champions countered that bid, offering him a new deal that would see his pay packet rise to £100,000 per week.

They are both currently waiting for the player to decide upon his future, with him electing to wait until the end of Euro 2016 before making a decision.

Wenger though, appears to have given up on the England star if his latest comments are anything to go by.

“Jamie Vardy, at the moment, is at Leicester. On what I know he will stay at Leicester,” the London Evening Standard quotes him saying.

Should Vardy decide to stay with Leicester City this summer, it is not a decision that will surprise many.

He has enjoyed great success with the Foxes, playing a key role in their surprise Premier League title-winning campaign last season.

They are now taking that adventure into the Champions League and it is no surprise to see the striker wanting to see what the next chapter hold for Claudio Ranieri’s side.
