Nathan Redmond scores for Norwich
The Saints lost manager Ronald Koeman to Everton last week, with the Dutchman presented as the new Toffees boss on Friday afternoon.
That leaves Southampton searching for a new manager, and whilst they will be looking to take their time to make sure they get the right man for the job, they could miss out on a top transfer target.
The Mirror reported earlier this week that winger Nathan Redmond was closing in on a move to Southampton, as talks over an £11m deal with Norwich City had reached an advanced stage, with a medical even scheduled.
Now though, the Daily Mail report that Southampton could miss out on Redmond, with Stoke City now looking to beat the Saints to his signature - because of Koeman's exit.
It's claimed that Koeman's departure has left Redmond questioning the move to the South Coast, as a new manager may not be so keen on him, giving Stoke hope of hijacking the deal.
With pace and dribbling ability, Redmond is a dangerous winger who showed he could make an impact in the Premier League - but rather than the red and white stripes of Southampton, he could end up in the red and white stripes of Stoke instead.
Do you think Southampton can fend off Stoke in a move for Redmond?
