New Everton boss Ronald Koeman is considering a possible move for Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin as the Frenchman's future appears to be somewhat up in the air, the Sunday People reports.
The People reports that new United manager Jose Mourinho wants Nemanja Matic to join him at Old Trafford next season, and that reunion between the two men who worked alongside each other at Chelsea could see the door opened for the 26-year-old to stage his own reunion with his former boss.
Koeman was in charge of Southampton when Schneiderlin completed his move to Old Trafford last summer, and now the Sunday People suggests that the Dutchman is keen on linking up with him once again at Goodison Park.
While Schneiderlin may find himself unwanted by the Red Devils in the near future, the Sunday People reports that he will not be available on the cheap with United apparently wanting to recoup all of the £25m they spent on him one year ago.
The former Strasbourg man has endured a mixed first campaign in Manchester. While the side struggled at times in the Premier League, they were able to clinch their first major trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson left as they won the FA Cup.
But Koeman will be hoping that if a deal does take place, Schneiderlin can rediscover the form that helped establish the Saints as a side capable of challenging for a European spot as it would undoubtedly help Everton move themselves up the table.
