Glasgow Rangers fans react on Twitter to Windass and Crooks news

Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have completed a deal for Josh Windass and Matt Crooks, but it is proving problematic.

Accrington Stanley's Josh Windass warms up before the match

Glasgow Rangers fans have reacted angrily on Twitter to Accrington Stanley chairman Andy Holt’s decision to not allow Matt Crooks or Josh Windass to train with the Ibrox side.

Rangers capitalised on a ruling which meant that Windass and Crooks were able to speak to other clubs, six months before their contracts ran out at Accrington.

As a result, the talented pair both agreed to join Rangers before their existing deals at Accrington had expired for a minimal fee.

Rangers will have to pay compensation for the pair, but Holt went public in stating that he did not feel Stanley had got value for money in the transfer.

And the controversial deal continues to prove problematic, even now, with Crooks and Windass now being blocked from training with Mark Warburton’s side.

Rangers are due back in pre-season training soon, but Holt insists that the pair still belong to Accrington as things stand as no compensation package has been agreed.

He said: "Until the compensation package has been agreed they are our players.”

Holt also put out a message on social media complaining about the deal.

Rangers have quickly put out their own statement, saying that they will pay the compensation package and supporters of the Ibrox side are firmly behind their club’s cause.

Many Rangers fans have written to Holt suggesting that he is blocking the development of both Crooks and Windass by playing hard-ball over the transfer. Here is the best reaction.
