According to The Sun, Southampton’s Sadio Mane will demand £125,000 per week to join Liverpool.
The report claims that both Liverpool are ready to swoop for the Southampton man if the clubs can agree a fee, yet acquiring him won’t come cheap as the Saints also seek £40 million for his signature.
The Reds are looking to bolster their ranks this summer with boss Jurgen Klopp ready to make necessary changes at Anfield in order for the club to challenge for a top four spot.
The Merseysiders have made a habit of buying players from Southampton in recent seasons, with Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clye and Dejan Lovren all trading St. Mary’s for Anfield.
Mane joined the Saints from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg and immediately made an impact in the Premier League, scoring ten goals in his debut campaign followed by a further 11 strikes last term.
His impressive performances initially alerted Manchester United, as mentioned in the report, yet now it appears Liverpool are pushing hardest to secure his signature this summer.
The 24-year-old is capable of playing in a number of positions in the final third and offers traits which coincides with Jurgen Klopp’s style of play such as directness and high intensity.
Mane has two years left on his current Saints deal, though following Ronald Koeman’s exit to Everton he has emerged as a contender to follow the Dutchman out of St. Mary’s this summer.
