Southend's Daniel Bentley celebrates their fourth goal
Yesterday saw Leeds United linked with wanting a British number one goalkeeper for next season, with two Championship stalwarts mentioned as potential options for the club.
Derby County's Lee Grant
Both players are experienced at this level and would, on paper, be decent acquisitions but not many a Leeds fan will be pleased to hear of these rumours when it comes to a new British number one.
Especially with a player like Daniel Bentley out of contract at Southend United.
Camp and Grant’s best years are behind them and neither has ever truly proved themselves as a regular number one at this level. Bentley on the other hand has the ability to do just that.
The 22-year-old has been one of the most consistent players in the Football League for the past few seasons and has been linked with plenty of teams in the past 12 months.
If Leeds are after a British number one it is this sort of player that the club should be looking at, and not the likes of Camp and Grant.
Southend manager Phil Brown celebrates winning the play off final with Daniel Bentley
Bentley is just an example of who they should sign, with Camp and Grant surely not the best options on the British ‘keeper market.
