Glasgow Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has told the club’s official website that the new fixture list provides the squad with a great incentive ahead of the new season.
The fixtures for the 2016/16 season were released on Friday as Rangers found out their games for the new Scottish premiership campaign.

The standout fixture was naturally the Old Firm derby with Celtic, which will be taking place on September 10th, while there is another one scheduled for New Year’s Eve also.
The Rangers players have already started work on their fitness, but Barton says that the fixture release will help them to focus their mind and motivate them to work harder.
“Once those fixtures come out you start scheming and planning where the league could be won or lost and it’s a great incentive to have,” he told rangers.co.uk.
“It’s a huge boost for everyone, fans and players, because all of a sudden it feels like the season is upon you and it’s exciting times.”

The fixture list is certainly likely to have ramped up interest in the new season among the Rangers fans as they eye a title challenge next season.
As Barton says, they will have already highlighted the games where the title could be won or lost, and that clash with Celtic will be marked as a key one.
They have been handed a relatively good start to the season, against Hamilton Academicals on August 6th, and will be keen to make as positive a start as possible to the new campaign.
