West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has written in The Daily Mail that signing a 20-goal striker could see his team challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League next season.

Andy Carroll, Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho are the three recognised forwards on the books of West Ham at the moment, but none of them is good enough to score 20 or more goals in the Premier League in a single campaign.

Bilic has highlighted the need for the Hammers to sign a proven goalscorer who will find the back of the opposition’s net regularly.

The West Ham boss has suggested that adding a top-class striker would see his team challenge the top teams in the Premier League next season.

“Everyone knows we want a top-class striker,” Bilic wrote in The Daily Mail. “And if we can get a 20-goals-a-season man, there’s no reason why we can’t improve on last season and challenge the Premier League’s top teams.”

West Ham enjoyed a successful 2015-16 season and will be looking forward to the 2016-17 campaign in front of over 50,000 fans at the Olympic Stadium.

Dimitri Payet is one of the best and most creative attacking midfielders in the Premier League.

The France international is going to create chances, and the Hammers need a striker to make the most of them.
