Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in a deal for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, according to SportBild.

The defender was in fine form last season, earning a late call up to Germany’s squad for Euro 2016 this summer after Antonio Rudiger picked up an injury.

His performances have not gone unnoticed in Europe, with there thought to be Premier League interest in his services.

According to SportBild, both Chelsea and Liverpool are both keen on the defender and have already enquired about his services.

The newspaper values him at around €12.5million, around £9.5million, which would be a more than affordable price for both clubs.

Liverpool in particular are likely to be in the market for defenders, with that area of the team having struggled last season.

They have already signed Joel Matip on a free transfer from Schalke, and with Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel both leaving the club, there are spaces to be filled in regards to defensive options.

At just 20-years-old, Tah also fits into Jurgen Klopp’s model of buying youth that can be developed and it would not be surprising to see the Reds make an offer for his services this summer.
