Reports have recently linked three Championship teams with a move for Kalmar FF striker Marcus Antonsson.
FotbollDirekt.se suggested that Leeds United, Aston Villa and Cardiff City are all interested in snapping him up this summer.
Today saw Antonsson’s current club Kalmar secure the future of star midfielder Rasmus Elm. The former CSKA Moscow star, who has 39 caps for Sweden, joined the club in 2015 after a lengthy battle with ulcerative colitis and has signed on for another deal with the Red Brothers.
When discussing the renewal of Elm’s deal with Expressen today the club’s sporting director Thomas Andersson-Borstam was quizzed on the future of Antonsson. He was asked whether he will have made his transfer by the weekend and he was tight-lipped:
“It is difficult to speculate on that.
“You do not know until it is done.
“I'll pass on this question.”
Antonsson, according to the report, has been given time off this week to go and visit potential destinations in England and France.
The 25-year-old is currently the top-scorer in this year’s addition of the Allsvenskan – with 10 goals.
