The striker has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

As reported by ESPN, Wolfsburg’s sporting director Klaus Allofs has been speaking to German magazine Kicker about his side’s interest in AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen.

The 22-year-old scored 32 goals in 49 matches last season including 27 in 34 Eredivisie matches, and while the standard of Dutch football means not every player with a great strike-rate can be rated a great player, Janssen has also been doing the business at international level, scoring three in five appearances for the Netherlands to date.

According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur held talks with Janssen regarding a possible move, but now Allofs has confirmed that he too has discussed the possibility of bringing the forward to Germany.

“We’ve got a few options,” Allofs is quoted as saying by Kicker. “We’ve talked to Janssen. We are not the only club in the market for him.”

There seems little doubt Tottenham are one of the clubs to whom Allofs is referring but given his goal-return last season, Spurs will have to pull out all the stops to bring him to White Hart Lane.

If Tottenham manage it, he could form a superb partnership with England international Harry Kane. But as Allofs said, there are other clubs eager to seal the deal in due course and this one looks like going on a while longer.
