Bournemouth's Tommy Elphick
Villa have appointed Roberto Di Matteo as their new manager following Remi Garde's departure in March, and with Tony Xia now confirmed as the club's new owner, a new era is on the horizon at Villa Park.
Having been relegated to the Championship, Villa need new signings - and with a leaky defence last season, adding some stability in the back line has to be a priority for new boss Di Matteo.
Now, BBC Sport report that Villa have had a £3m bid accepted for Bournemouth centre back Tommy Elphick, with personal terms now being discussed.
The Daily Mail add that Elphick's deal is expected to go through imminently, with the defender likely to be a Villa player the end of the week.
Elphick, 28, is Bournemouth's club captain but struggled with injuries this past season, making just 14 appearances in all competitions for the Cherries.
Now, with Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe looking to adjust his squad, he seems ready to part ways with Elphick after almost four years on the South Coast.
With experience of winning promotion from Bournemouth's 2015 Championship-winning campaign, Elphick has the credentials that Villa need at the back, whilst possessing huge Football League experience fro his time with Brighton as well.
Would you be happy with the signing of Elphick?
