Barclays has hired Tim Main to be chairman of its global financial institutions group, as CEO Jes Staley adds another fellow JPMorgan veteran to the bank’s senior ranks.

Bloomberg News reports that Main was hired from Evercore Partners, where he’d worked since 2011, most recently as senior managing director responsible for coverage of financial-services clients, according to a statement from Barclays. Previously, Main spent more than 20 years at JPMorgan, including stints running the firm’s equity capital markets and FIG divisions.

In the meantime, Bloomberg also reports that David Allen, a money manager who left the $217bn Canada Pension Plan Investment Board last month, has hired Matthew Courey, former head of high-yield bond trading at Credit Suisse, as he prepares to start his own fund in London, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

Allen has also hired Joseph Novarro, the former managing partner at investment firm Renshaw Bay, to become the chief operating officer of his private debt fund, which will open later this year, said the person, asking not to be identified because the information is private. They will both be partners at the new firm, the person said.
