According to the latest from Italian editorial Fcinternews, Napoli’s coveted forward Manolo Gabbiadini could soon be heading for a Serie A exit as he is keen on a move to Schalke.
The report claims that Napoli’s hefty asking price of roughly £24 million has put off the likes of Inter and AC Milan, but Schalke in contrast remain in the hunt with the player interested in joining the German side.
Gabbiadini, 24, has had a number of spells at different Serie A clubs before finally settling at Sampdoria, impressing so much that Napoli opted to acquire him in January 2015.
Despite playing second fiddle to Gonzalo Higuain, the talented forward still hit 11 goals in 30 appearances this past season and as such has attracted interest from the Premier League.
Both Tottenham and Stoke are also in the market for additional goal-scorers this summer, with Spurs keen to find a partner for Harry Kane while the Potters may need a replacement for Marko Arnautovic.
However, with talk of a potential Gabbiadini-England switch going quiet over the past two weeks, Schalke appear to have stepped up their interest and could soon make their move.
The report says the forward is keen on moving to Gelsenkirchen, and Schalke could soon tempt Napoli with a big offer especially if they receive a hefty windfall from a potential Leroy Sane sale.
