Everton are confident that Ross Barkley will sign a new contract, according to The Telegraph.

Barkley has been on the books of Everton since 2005 and has a contract with the Merseyside outfit until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

According to The Telegraph, the Toffees are on the verge of appointing Southampton boss Ronald Koeman as their manager.

The Toffees are reportedly confident that the 22-year-old attacking midfielder will put pen to paper on a new deal.

Barkley is one of the best young players in the Premier League and has huge potential.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder scored eight goals and created 55 chances in 38 league appearances for the Toffees during the 2015-16 campaign.

The youngster had a pass accuracy of 86% and a shot accuracy of 51%, and won 27 headers, 115 dribbles and 23 tackles.

Barkley is on international duty at the moment, playing for England at the ongoing 2016 European Championship in France.
